“Reading was my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author's words reverberating in your head.”
― Paul Auster, The Brooklyn Follies

A friend of mine donate 20 percent of his salary to charity , he also organises programs for orphans . Sometimes , on and off , he will dig out (for instance last month) another 20 percent of his monthly salary to satisfy the need of the orphans. He thinks that earthly matter is not more important than heavenly responsibility.

For that , he always runs out of pocket money a week before his next salary is due

He also will stop his car , during the rain , and offer to fetch an old lady home , despite urgent call from his big boss.

He told me his concept of charity. If you don't feel pain in doing so , no element of sacrifice , it's not charity . It's a mere act to satisfy you craving of being a samaritan . Hence , he never donate small amount of money to the beggars on street. He thinks that these beggars are part of a scheme , of which they might be richer than you.

Same applies to non - monetary charity , if it doesn't consumes your time to the extend that you will have to sacrifice something, it isn't a big deal.

He further thinks that charity need to be balanced - between the consequence , and the inner heart . Many donated lots for name , fame , ego , thus it ain't a good balance .Hence , he uses a fake name for donations and never attend all these presenting ceremony.

He said , charity is an investment. A long term investment which it's dividen will be accumulated and distributed In the kingdom of heaven. He urge everyone to start the investment now, and for convenience, he is willing to become the agent for the investment.

may God bless him
